When the 11-year-old Aynor girl asked to FaceTime with her father Tuesday morning, Lisa Gammill said no. There’s just not enough time before school, she told her. But unbeknownst to Maddy, her dad wasn’t at an Air Force base in South Korea where he had been stationed for the last seven months. He was heading to Homewood Elementary School.
