When Savannah Thompson walked onto the stage at the Carolina Country Music Festival in June, the crowd erupted in applause. Thompson, who has Williams syndrome, was on hand to receive a ceremonial check from festival organizers who donated $10,000 to the planned playground for children with disabilities that will bear her name.
