Horry County Schools recovering after being shut down by computer virus | News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | WPDE

Monday morning, Horry County Schools were hit with a computer virus called ransomware. "It doesn't try to steal anything. It doesn't try to take your data, which for us is good. No data has left our facilities whatsoever. What they do is very sophisticated high level encryption to lock all of your data files to the point where you can't retrieve them without paying a ransom.
